We are excited to announce our NEW Family Support Program has just been released!
Introducing – SOLVING THE JIGSAW FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS!
Solving the Jigsaw for Students and Parents is a 10 week life skills program specifically designed to enhance the wellbeing of students and their families by developing important life skills, coping strategies, problem solving skills and the art of assertive communication. Building Resilience and teaching children, young people and parents/caregivers strategies is essential for students and families recovering from or dealing with their child’s experience of bullying and violence.
The program has been tailored specifically to act as an early intervention and recovery program for children who are experiencing these issues, or might be confronted by them. The students are all in the age groups between upper primary and lower secondary school years in which early intervention and prevention programs have proven to have significant short and long term benefits.
Solving the Jigsaw is a multi-award winning, wellbeing and life skills program developed by The Centre for Non-Violence, a not-for-profit, in 1997 and is facilitated in primary and secondary schools. The program has over 19 years practical experience working with thousands of teachers, over 100 schools and over 27,000 children and young people across Australia.
Now in its 3rd year on the Gold Coast, we have identified a need for alternative supports to be available within the community for students and their families who are unable to access recovery programs through local agencies / service providers.
As a Nationally Accredited Solving the Jigsaw facilitator, in consultation with the creators of the original Solving the Jigsaw program from Centre for Non-Violence, we have adapted the program content using the key concepts to meet these needs and to support both child and parent/carer.
PROGRAM AIMS – To teach children, young people and parents strategies for dealing with bullying and violence.
When and where? The Gold Coast program runs for 10 consecutive Monday evenings from 6pm to 7.30pm, commencing 23rd January 2017 in the Mudgeeraba, QLD.
